a nice break for the normal routine of residency. The residents enjoyed the thrilled and learned to never be consumed by the profession.   

.      What was the general understanding of the purpose of the project/program by participants?  

      This activity was meant to bring residents in our program together for a winter tubing activity outside of the walls and constraints of our program.   Meant to promote communication and community within and among our residents.

 

2.      During the project/program, what tangible tools or strategies were demonstrated or taught (ie, coping skills for wellness and life balance?

      We had to make a conscious effort to schedule time for this activity; this promotes an intentional approach to wellness.  Additionally, the activity by its nature promotes getting outdoors and taking advantage of activities available no matter the time of year.

 

3.      What word(s) best describes how you feel when you are experiencing stress or well-being imbalance

      Pressure, anxiety, being insufficient

 

4.      What suggestions do you have to increase the probability of success for the project / program for other institutions?

      Ongoing promotion of POMA and the POMA Foundation's support of residents and residency programs 

      Residents were grateful for this opportunity

 

5.      What do you intend to do, upon returning to work, that you learned and practiced during the activity, that will improve your response to stressful situations?

       Be more mindful of the need to schedule time for ourselves

       Take time to communicate with each other and faculty

       Wear warm gloves in the winter!!
