About POMA Continuing Medical Education
POMA is committed to delivering high-quality osteopathic continuing medical education programs to physicians throughout the Commonwealth. Programs cover a variety of subjects that benefit attendees across all disciplines to keep them up-to-date with advances in medicine, enrich their practice, and provide valid and reliable scientific advances for clinical and optimal quality care to their patients.
POMA's Educational Mission
The educational mission of the Pennsylvania Osteopathic Medical Association is to:
- Elevate and maintain high standards of osteopathic medical education;
- Stimulate of research and investigation;
- Collect and disseminate such knowledge to educate and improve the osteopathic profession;
- Improve the health and outcomes of Pennsylvania's citizens.
POMA's Educational Purpose Statement
POMA is committed to providing education that enhances participant competence, performance and patient outcomes. This is done by providing high quality continuing medical education to:
- Improve health and patient care through quality evidence-based educational activities
- Advance physician competence as clinicians to improve performance and patient outcomes
- Provide avenues to insure state mandated educational requirements are met
- Improve competence, performance and patient outcomes
- Facilitate the discovery and application of new knowledge to clinical practice employing needs assessment data and identified professional education gaps
- Collaborate with appropriate entities to implement CME to improve patient safety
- Enable physicians, regardless of specialty, to develop and maintain AOA (and ACGME) defined core competencies throughout their professional careers
