POMA Committee on Physician Wellness

Mental Health Awareness ribbon

POMA’s Committee on Physician Wellness is committed to encouraging osteopathic family mental health/well-being through focused activities sponsored and supported by POMA and the POMA Foundation. Our goal is to start the conversation and open dialogue regarding personal well-being in all levels of the osteopathic profession from students to attending physicians.

Over the last three years, the Committee has sponsored wellness events for residents across the Commonwealth with funding provided by the POMA Foundation.  Grants for the 2019-20 academic year have already been awarded - click here to view this year's recipients.  Project summaries will be published as we receive the recaps. UPMC Shadyside Family Medicine - Art and Garden 2021

Wednesday May 26th, 2021 during one of our Wellbeing Wednesday’s, we planned a gardening session for the residents. The purpose of the program was to spend time getting outside with one another while everyone got to paint and then plant their own pot and fill with flowers and herbs

WHS Family Medicine Residency Program has had an active Wellness Program since 2017. Activities have included enhanced Balint groups, Yoga, Tai Chi and other exercises classes, mindfulness training, reflective writing classes, special class nights and a yearly resident retreat. Residents are involved in planning many of the activities, specifically the class nights and yearly retreat.

UPMC LItitz Residency Barnstomers Baseball Game – June 10, 2021

Penn Highlands Residency - Escape Room 2021
