District 3 Recap - March 5, 2020

District 3 members gathered in northeast Allentown on Thursday, March 5 for dinner, CME and camaraderie. The members were updated on the osteopathic world from district leadership and POMA staff. Robert Dolansky, DO, AOA Trustee and District 3 member discussed the happenings with the AOA, and Sally Ann Rex, DO, discussed the work of the Advocates for the POMA (APOMA).

District 3 Recap - December 5, 2019

Holiday season was in the air in downtown Allentown on Thursday December 5th, as several members of District 3 gathered at the Allentown Brew Works. Scott Naftulin, DO, POMA District 3 member spoke to the group about various regenerative medicine treatments. Dr. Naftulin discussed the benefits, costs, and treatment differences between platelet-rich plasma, stem cell treatments and steroid treatments. The group discussed the various studies and evidence. The attendees received CME credit for attending.

District 3 November 2019 Event

A rainy night in Allentown didn’t dissuade the local POMA District 3 members from coming together for a wonderful dinner at BRAVO. Over twenty POMA members from residents to retired physicians gathered for networking, comradery, and updates from their professional association.  The group was treated to product theater presentation on a new treatment for spinal stenosis in Medicare patients. The minimally evasive procedure, by Vertiflex, relieves chronic back pain.

District 3 Recap - November 13, 2018

District 3 meeting November 2018

NSAID caused ulcers can be silent and silence is very dangerous. Long-term use of NSAIDs such as aspirin, ibuprofen (Advil, Motrin), and naproxen (Aleve, Naprosyn) is the second most common cause of ulcers. NSAIDs also increase the risk for gastrointestinal (GI) bleeding. The risk of bleeding continues for as long as a patient takes these drugs and may last for about one year after stopping.
