Tower Health Reading Hospital Surgery Program - Paddle Boarding - May 2025 Residents from the Tower Health Reading Hospital Surgery Program recently took to the water for a Stand Up Paddle Boarding (SUP) and picnic outing, thanks to the Resident Wellness Grant from POMA and the POMA Foundation. This thoughtfully chosen event was designed to foster team cohesion, promote wellness, and provide a much-needed break from the demands of surgical training. Residents appreciated the opportunity to step away from the clinical environment and connect in a relaxed, natural setting. Combining light physical activity with a peaceful outdoor backdrop, paddleboarding encouraged mindfulness, decompression, and informal peer support—all key elements of resilience and life balance. The event demonstrated that wellness doesn't need to be complicated; simple, joyful moments can have a profound impact. Returning to work, many residents plan to carry forward the lessons learned—prioritizing peer connection, incorporating movement and outdoor time into their routines, and making space for mindful breaks amid the intensity of residency. A huge thank you to POMA and the POMA Foundation for making this meaningful experience possible!
