UPMC Altoona Family Physicians Residency Program - Pottery Painting - March 2025 The UPMC Altoona Family Physicians Residency Program took a creative spin on wellness thanks to the Resident Wellness Grant from POMA and the POMA Foundation. Instead of the usual noon didactics, residents had time to grab lunch at their favorite local spots before heading to Playtime Pottery. There, they chose clay pieces, painted, and reconnected with co-residents they don’t always get to see due to busy rotations. The event offered a much-needed pause from clinical responsibilities, giving residents space to relax, laugh, and enjoy a creative outlet together. While some inpatient residents noted the challenge of stepping away from patient care, once they arrived, the activity provided a true mental reset. Even those who usually prefer solo downtime shared that they valued the gesture and appreciated the opportunity to take part. Overall, the feedback was overwhelmingly positive—with many asking for more wellness events like this in the future! A huge thank you to POMA and the POMA Foundation for making resident wellness a priority.
