District 10 Recap - June 1, 2018

POMA District 10 gathered on Friday, June 1, 2018 for their monthly event at the Blue Bell Inn, Blue Bell, PA. The group enjoyed a lecture about the role of maximizing the bronchodilators in COPD by Gary Aaronson, DO. Dr. Aaronson spoke about the management of COPD which is the third leading cause of death in the US, and the use of the Bevespi Aerosphere. He used an interesting balloon analogy to explain the disease to patients. Dr. Aaronson describes the lung as a balloon, where if you let go of the neck of the balloon the air will exit. However. if you squeeze the neck of the balloon, air does not fully exit, before filling again. This is similar to what is happening in COPD.

A few announcements after the lecture included one from Dr. Sine announcing the upcoming PCOM CME @ Hershey and there was also a reminder announcement made about the September 22, 2018 CO*RE REMS course that will be held at PCOM.
